Abstract
The present study deals with the concept of freedom in one of the most important contemporary philosophers i.e., John Dewey , who introduced a different view on it . He emphasized on the idea of real freedom away from utopia , in accordance with his pragmatist instrumental philosophy . He attempted to contribute in adapting individual character to develop the society and construct the state through his claim to apply freedom suitably with contemporary reality in every aspect of life .That was by introducing the effective solutions for the problem of relation between individual freedom and society freedom.
