Abstract
This is an old issue upon which linguists are not agreed. Some linguists consider “lat” as on active letter like “Ina”, and others consider it as on active verb just like “Laisa”. Other disputation is whether “Lat” is used especially in negation of time or whether it is a compound. The research presents the views of scientists about “lat”, its work, and its adjustments. It’s an issue which made the scientists hesitate including Abu Hayan Al-Andalusi who announced it as being a verb once and a letter another time. He didn’t give any clear judgment about it to solve this dispute which exists to our recent time.
